Preventing Infant "Flat Head" with Tortle

****CONTEST NOW CLOSED****
Congratulations to our winner Shanda Enriquez

Back is Best
Its what all new parents are told, lay your baby on his back to sleep. But, did you know that lying baby on his back without constantly re positioning his head can lead to plagiocephaly ( unbalanced neck muscles) and torticollis (flat head syndrome).  I am so thankful that this isnt something Ive had to deal with ( knock on wood) but I know some parents who have and the treatment is not fun.
Thankfully Target.com has just announced that it will be carrying a perfectly simple solution, The Tortle.

Founded by Board Certified Pediatrician and Neonatologist Dr. Jane Scott in 2012, Tortle Products, LLC is located in Denver, CO.  Tortle Products manufactures Tortle, an FDA-cleared patented Class 1 medical device.  This stylish knit beanie prevents and treats Flat Head Syndrome (Plagiocephaly and Torticollis), a condition most prevalent in babies 0-6 months of age.  Every baby is at risk for developing Flat Head Syndrome with one out of two babies being diagnosed with the Syndrome.  Tortle works by gently deflecting a baby’s head from side to side while they are lying on their back.   Available in a variety of colors and designs, Tortle has a recommended retail price of $19.99.  Please visit www.tortle.com for more information.

  15. I have a 2 Red Hens Toy Nanny and love it. I would love to add a matching diaper bag. I never really worried about flat head syndrome until my nephew needed a special helmet. Now I'd feel good having the Tortle on hand for when our new little guy arrives!
