The Scariest Day of my Life

Last week I lived through one of the scariest days I have ever experienced.

Last week, I held my five month old baby in my arms certain that I was watching him die, and it came out of nowhere.

It was shaping up to be a perfectly ordinary Thursday morning.  We were all going through the usual rush to get Sophia to the bus.   I was in the kitchen making lunch when I looked over at Zack, who had been playing happily in his exersaucer, and saw that his eyes were rolled back in his head.  By the time I reached him he had gone completely limp and unresponsive.
I'm so thankful my husband was home and calm enough to call 911 because I completely panicked.  I remembered nothing of my CPR training, my head was full of screaming.

My poor sweet smiley little boy, my baby, what was happening?

After about a minute he came back around and it was almost like nothing had happened.  He seemed a little confused, but he was happy. Luckily the paramedics showed up quickly though because within minutes it started again and off to emerg we went.
After a day spent in two hospitals and more tests than I can count we don't have any answers beyond the fact that he was having seizures.  We don't know why, we don't know if it will happen again.  I have felt for the last few days like I am walking on eggshells, and just waiting for it to happen again.
He has a lot more testing coming up in the near future, including some sedated tests that I am absolutely terrified of and a consultation with neurologists at the best childrens hospital in the world.  Hopefully we get some answers as to what happened, and hopefully it was just a one time thing.
