Capturing my #NikonMOMents

Photography has always been a passion of mine.  The ability to capture a moment, a split second in time, and freeze it.

Its almost magical isn't it?



I remember the first time I picked up a camera and realized what I could do with it. I was in high school and I had elected to take a photography class.  I had to borrow a camera off one of my friends dads; and it was the biggest heaviest bulkiest thing ever!
I had no idea what I was doing, and that was painfully obvious in the first few weeks that I had it.  As I got to "know" the camera (and its many quirks), I got more comfortable, and I realized that I really enjoyed taking pictures.

It wasn't until I had my first daughter though, that I realized how important photography really is.  Each day that passed she grew, and she changed, and I wanted to capture every single milestone.  Even though I had a very basic camera, and my pictures were far from perfect ( or even all that good in some cases), I cherish every picture from those early days of our family.

When I became pregnant again, my first purchase was a shiny new DSLR.  I was determined to document every single hug, hiccup and smile that my children gave me.  My family jokingly called me the mama-razzi, because my camera is like an extra appendage, it was never far from my side.  With the new camera, my pictures really improved, and I definitely put it through its paces.  My childrens lives have been very well documented, and our walls are covered with memories.

Recently I had the chance to upgrade my DSLR to a Nikon 3300, and I'm pretty sure that I'm in love.

Not only is a big upgrade from my last camera, but I finally have the chance to play with a fancy lens!   My pictures before were good, but this camera seems to know exactly what I want to catpture, the way it brings out colors, and light, is unreal.  I have been snapping away at everything I see for a week now and I love the picture me and "Niko" are taking together.
