Nautical Nursery

Ever since I found out that this baby is a boy, I have been scouring every source I can find for nursery inspiration.  At this point I consider myself somewhat of a professional at girls rooms, but boys are a mystery in pretty much every way, and I have to admit, I'm a little lost on how to mesh boy stuff with our home style.
Luckily there are some incredibly talented amateur and professional designers out there and I have found more than inspiration than I can ever use ( short of becoming a Duggar).  Now the hard part will be choosing the inspiration for my own little boys room.
One of the themes I really like is the nautical theme, it would be so easy to do a fully nautical themed room, or just use a few elements to add a little preppiness to your nursery.

I love the color possibilities in a nautical theme. I also really like how it can carry a travel theme without being too mature-looking. Another big bonus about a nautical theme is that it can grow with your baby, or even work for a shared room, just switch out the crib for a mates-style bed and your big boy will fit right in too.

OMG

Look at these, squeeee!
I am LITERALLY dying of the cuteness.
Leggings by C.C Lovely and Lace

I am obsessed

Me and my Uggs
I have a confession...
I am an Ugg fan ( hangs head in shame). I cant help it, I love them so much, Ive even been known to wear them in the summer with a dress (gasp). There is nothing more comfy than a pair of Uggs and a pair of leggings with a big comfy sweater for fall.

I have been trying for a few years to find a pair of boots that are even close to as comfy as my Uggs and have failed on multiple attempts. This year though I am going to double my efforts because i have a new love....boot socks.
How freakin gorgeous are these things?  I just bought like forty pairs, and modelled them for my hubby who promptly swore he would not be seen in public with me if I insisted on wearing them with my Uggs.  This coming from the man who went through a phase of wearing only shirts silk screened with pictures of cars and flames on them.  Where is the loyalty I ask?
So now I am in search of a pair of boots that will work with my socks. I found these,

but I seriously doubt that hubby will let me spend almost $500 on a pair of boots that i only want because they'll show off my socks. So Im turning to you readers, I need a good pair of fall/winter boots, flat, preferably leather, that dont cost a mortgage payment. Any suggestions?

I Make Hats

I don't know if Ive ever mentioned this before, but in addition to being super mom (cough cough) and blogging I also crochet hats and photo props. Ive been lucky enough to team up with a fabulous photographer (Michelle Collis Photography) to get some great pics. You can see more on my facebook page at http://tinyurl.com/7c9rehm

Amazing Deal Alert - My Little Legs and My Little Noggins

If you are a fan of baby leggings you need to head straight over to My Little Leggings

They are having a sale right now that saves you more the more you buy. In addition to that you can use the coupon code Summer2011 to save an additional 10%, and they're offering free shipping to Canada and the United States.I just scored 15 pairs of leggings for under $40.

This is an amazing deal when you consider that some brands (cough cough baby legs cough cough) are charging close to $20/pair!

I love these leggings i used them on sophia all the time!
In the winter underneath looser fitting track pants so her legs stayed warm on walks.
In the summer with little skirts or just onesies they look adorable and make diaper changes a breeze.
They are lifesavers for the crawling stage and the learning to walk stage, i cant count the number of times they've saved her little knees from scrapes
Im also going to use them when were potty training, so much easier than pants.

So head on over to My Little Legs and score some for yourselves. While you're there check out their great selection of hats, headbands and skirts as well.
Happy Shopping.

You too can be a (semi)extreme couponer

I have recently become addicted to the show Extreme Couponing on TLC.
I am amazed at the deals these women are able to get, and while I may not be willing to spend 60+ hours a week getting ready to go grocery shopping, it has definitely inspired me. Unfortunately what i quickly discovered is that here in the great white north couponing is not as easy as it is in the US.
Most of these women rely on loyalty cards loaded with ecoupons (not available in ca), coupon stacking (not available except at one chain of stores that isnt in my province), and stores that offer coupon doubling (again nowhere in canada). Another hurdle Ive come up across is the refusal to accept printed coupons found on the internet.
What i have discovered though is that there are a lot of brands and websites that alow you to order coupons that are then mailed to your home. And while the savings dont add up to the hundreds (thousands) that the shoppers of extreme couponing are enjoying they can add up. I was able to save $27 off of a $100 shopping trip last week, and next week im hoping to do the same. It may not be much but it can add up. ($27 saved off of a biweekly shopping trip can add up to over $700 a year).
If you want to get started with your own no-quite-extreme couponing these sites are a great start;
(note all require you to sign up using your email)

save.ca
gocoupons.ca
websaver.ca
brandsaver.ca

and my personal favorite Mrsjanuary.com which is a great site because not only does it link you with new coupons mulitple times a day, it has also cataloged all the couponing policies for most of the larger stores in Canada. The best part about MrsJanuary though, in my opinion, is the coupon match up. Once a week the site will list all the sales that the major retailers are offering (from their flyers) and automatically match up the deals with recent coupons, this is a great way to save a ton of $$$, or even get things for free!
Check it out here, MrsJanuary

How freakin' adorable are these monster face cloths from Frank and Me?

OMG OMG OMG

I want.
I want.
I want.
If the new Bugaboo Donkey is as amazing as my chameleon, I think it may just be the perfect stroller.

Bugaboo will introduce the Bugaboo Donkey: the first mono-duo-mono convertible stroller for kids and goods. The Bugaboo Donkey can easily – in three clicks – be converted from a full-sized mono to a full-sized side by side duo and back again to a mono. All with flexible and multiple storage space. This makes it suitable for your first child, your second child, or both and for twins. And even in full duo position, the stroller is still compact.

  • The Bugaboo Donkey has been designed to meet two key parental needs: increased storage space and the option to convert from a mono to a side by side duo stroller for parents with two young children or twins.
  • The greatly increased storage space - an expandable side luggage basket and under-seat basket - allows parents to carry all the goods they may need whilst on the go. The Bugaboo Donkey can be expanded and downsized again in only three clicks.
  • In mono configuration the Bugaboo Donkey is 60 cm wide, which is the same width as the Bugaboo Cameleon.
  • In duo configuration, with only 74 cm it’s the narrowest (luxury) side by side duo stroller.
  • The Bugaboo Donkey will be available during the Spring of 2011 in the USA, UK, Netherlands and Spain. We expect further roll out in other countries later that year.
  • The Bugaboo Donkey is the latest addition to Bugaboo’s portfolio which further includes the Bugaboo Frog, the Bugaboo Bee, and the Bugaboo Cameleon.

A weekend away and A great new store

Me, the hubby and little Miss S. jumped on the opportunity to spend a few days away at a friends cottage this past weekend. Its been a pretty stressful few weeks and we needed a break. Its funny, but I don't think we noticed how stressed out we both were until we were able to let go of it for a bit.We had a great relaxing weekend.
Normally I would have planned out every minute with fun "activities" for us but this weekend I decided to just go with the flow. I am so glad we did. We played board games, went to a craft fair in the adorable little town(more about that in a bit) , watched some kids jumping off a bridge into the river, we even spent an hour on the dock just watching the sunset. It was so nice to just be able to relax and not worry about anything but whats for dinner.

Oh, did I mention my hubby cooked ALL WEEKEND. It really was a treat.

I even managed to score some amazing deals this weekend. For those of you readers who happen to be in southern ontario, Im sure you know Vaughan Mills. Its the super shopping mall recently built right across from Canada's Wonderland. I stopped there on Friday while my hubby finished up a little bit of work he had to do.
Im not a huge fan of the majority of the stores but I always make a point of stopping by The Childrens place. This trip didnt dissapoint they were having a great sale and I managed to pick up the most adorable bathing suit for, get this, $2.99! Its perfect for our upcoming trip to The Mayan Riviera. They had a lot of great deals so I highly recomend checking it out.
While I was at Vaughan Mills I also stopped by Babies R us and picked up some Baby Legs for 4.99 a pair!
My best discovery though came form the Craft Fair we visited on Saturday. I am not normally a fan of crafts. I figured the stalls would be full of things like this little jewel. I am so happy that i was wrong, there was some seriously cute stuff, ranging from flavored honeys, really cute dishwear, some adorable baby clothes and a lot more.
The best stall though was called Penelope Picklebottom. The name made me giggle, it was somehow familiar...
The wares however were not the knock off diaper bags and blankets I was expecting but the most adorable hats and headbands! I was like a kid in a candy shop, poor Miss S. was forced to try on about twenty different hats and she was not happy about it. She hasnt really picked up her mommas love of shopping yet I guess.
My faves though were an adorable blue flowered headband and brown crocheted beanie with a bow. I was happy to learn that she has a website you can shop from and also does custom orders. I will definitely be ordering a few more.
You can check it out here.
Heres Miss S modelling her newest headwear.
All in all, It was a really great weekend. I am so glad we took the time to reconnect as a family, and just spend some time together.
Happy Shopping

The Couponizer

Im a coupon fanatic, I am constantly clipping and printing to get the best deals. The problem is, it can be hard to keep organized, and im constantky finding expired coupons around the house, forgetting the ones i wanted at home, or picking up things at the store that I didnt realise i had a coupon for.

Thats why The Couponizer may has been a major asset to me. Invented by Amy Bergin, it has been called the “Hottest Coupon Accessory on the Market” byVal-Pak.com.

The Couponizer scomes with a wire-bound booklet, a guide to smart savings, a sorting mat for all your clippings, a shopping list, a monthly savings record, scissors and a carrying bag. The system uses 18 grocery categories organized like aisles in a grocery store, so finding coupons should be easy! It even has specific section for coupons youre planning on using this trip, and coupons that expire this month. Its amazing how much money you can save just by being organised!
